If your pet has been booked in for an anaesthetic, for an operation, dental, or diagnostic procedure, please:

• Do not feed your pet after 8pm the night before
• Remove its water bowl when you get up in the morning
• Keep cats in overnight, to prevent hunting
• Take dogs for a walk before coming in

The nurse will admit your pet between 8am – 8.30am. The operation will be carried out during the morning. Please telephone the surgery on 01656 653918 after 3pm to arrange collection of your pet, he / she should be ready to come home before 6pm.

If your pet has to be kept in overnight, we have a veterinary nurse on the premises to take care of him/her. Your pet will be checked at least every two hours (or more if needed) and a veterinary surgeon is available on call should the nurse have any cause to be concerned about his/her condition.

Please provide us with an emergency contact number for you throughout the day.

For routine operations, please inform the vet or nurse if your pet has been sick or off colour over the past week.

Please be aware that any anaesthetic carries a minor risk of complication. Your pet will have a small patch of hair shaved on their front leg and over the operation sites.
